Paste an ASIN or an Amazon product URL and get the listing, market and review data behind it, so a decision about a product starts from what is actually published.

Why look up an ASIN before you decide

Product research usually starts with a screenshot of a product page and ends in an argument about what it means. This puts the published facts in one place: price and Buy Box, rank in its category and how that rank has moved, rating and review count, images, video and A+, variations, the search terms shoppers click it on with the share of clicks and purchases each one earns, where the product sits in Amazon's results for them, and what the listing says about itself in its own keywords. Use it before you launch into a category, when a competitor overtakes you, or when a supplier tells you a product sells well.

What it cannot see

Units sold is Amazon's own past-month figure where it publishes one, not a forecast of what the product will do next. Search terms cover products Amazon names among the three most clicked; a product outside that group returns an empty list rather than a guess.

ASIN Inspector questions

What is an ASIN?

The ten-character identifier Amazon gives every product, visible in the product URL after /dp/. Paste either the code or the whole URL.

Where does the monthly sold figure come from?

From the Amazon product page: the "bought in the past month" count Amazon shows there, rounded by Amazon rather than estimated by us from sales rank. The chart behind it is that same figure over time, with sales alongside it: units multiplied by the average price that month, weighted by how long each price held. Those sales figures are approximate by construction, since a published price says nothing about coupons, deals or what a multipack contains. One detail decides how to read it: the count covers a rolling thirty days rather than a calendar month, so each bar is the figure Amazon published in the first days of the following month, which is the closest thing on record to what that month did. The month in progress is shown separately as the last thirty days, because it has not finished.

Can I see how much a competitor sells?

You see the past-month purchase figure when Amazon publishes one for that product, plus its rank history, which is the closest public proxy for sales movement. Anything beyond that is an estimate, and this tool does not present estimates as facts.

Which marketplaces does the inspector cover?

Amazon US, Canada and Mexico. Enter the ASIN and pick the marketplace the product is sold in, since the same product can carry different ranks and prices in each.

What does Clicked from search show?

The search terms Amazon names this product among the three most clicked for, taken from its own Brand Analytics data rather than from guesswork about what a listing might rank for. A product has to be genuinely strong on a term to appear there, so an empty list is an answer too: it means the product is in nobody's top three.

What is Click share and Purchase share?

Both are shares of one search term, not rates. Click share is how many times shoppers clicked this product after searching that term, divided by how many times they clicked any product after searching it. Purchase share is the same division applied to what they bought; Amazon calls it conversion share. The two are measured independently, so purchase share can be higher than click share, and often is on a product that converts well. Comparing them is the useful part: a product taking 16% of the clicks and 4% of the purchases is winning the search and losing the page, which is a listing problem rather than a traffic one, and the reverse says visibility is the constraint.

What does "3 products take 39.4% of its clicks" mean?

It is about clicks, not about positions. Amazon names the three products shoppers click most for a phrase, and this adds their shares: on that phrase those three take 39.4% of everything clicked, and the remaining 60.6% is spread across every other product in the results. The number says how closed a phrase is. Above half, three products own the query and a new listing has to take clicks from a specific competitor rather than simply appear. Around a tenth, attention is spread thin and ranking is enough to earn some of it. The same rank means different things on those two phrases.

What is the Organic position?

Where the product sits in Amazon's own results for that term, checked live while you wait. Every term on the list is checked, up to a hundred of them: the twenty with the most demand behind them to a depth of 100, the rest to 40, which is why a row can read ">40" while another reads ">100". A term Amazon was too busy to answer reads "not checked" rather than being reported as unranked. A high click share next to a weak organic position usually means those clicks are being paid for.

What is Search Frequency Rank?

Amazon's numeric rank of a search term's popularity against every other search term in the same period. Rank 1 is the most searched term of the period, rank 2 the next, and so on. It is Amazon's own figure, shown as published.

What is Search Query Volume?

The number of times this query was searched during the selected time period. Here that period is the last full calendar month. Where Amazon publishes the count for a query, that count is what you see; for the rest it is UNITIX Agency's own measure.
